Elizabeth A. Cronin

Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Ford) Cronin, of Westwood, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. 

Betty was the beloved wife of the late John J. Cronin and a devoted mother to her two children: John J. Cronin Jr. and his wife Carolynne of Westwood, Massachusetts, and Julie E. Cronin and her husband Dan Semenak of Chicago, Illinois. She was a cherished Nana to her five grandchildren: John III (Jake), Kellie, Courtney, and Shane Cronin of Westwood and Danny Semenak of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her loving sister Marilyn Stevens of Millis, Massachusetts, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

After losing her mother at an early age, Betty grew up living in both West Roxbury and Roslindale. She held fond memories of attending Longfellow Elementary School and Holy Cross Academy. A proud graduate of Boston College in 1957, Betty went on to enjoy a fulfilling career as an early elementary school teacher. 

Betty treasured her time spent in Waterville Valley, NH and her 60 years in North Shore Pocasset on Cape Cod, where she created countless memories with family and friends. Betty also found joy in her mornings with the Saint Margaret Mary Dunkin' Church Ladies. In addition she cherished her many friends at Fox Hill Village and her dear friend, Tom Phelan. Finally, Betty's family would like to sincerely thank the extended family of the Irish Saints for their incredible care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Tuesday Feb. 4th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning Feb. 5th at 10:30am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood. Interment at Old Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish at Boston College, 28 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467 or stignatiuschestnuthill.org.
