It is with great sadness and in loving memory that the family of Edward D. Connelly, 81, of Westwood, MA, announce his passing on June 22nd, 2021.
Beloved husband of Kathleen, devoted father of Mark (Pam) of Powhatan, VA; Shawn (Lizbeth) of Westwood, and Katie (Ty) Conder of Medfield. Fun loving Pop of Jack, Chase, Mason, Patrick, Justine, Eddy, Lauren, and Timothy. Dear brother of Joan Klimas (late Robert) of Avon; David (Barbara) of Dennis; Late Robert (Elaine) of Jamaica Plain; Late John (Late Ann) of Dedham; Brother in law of Paul (Linda) Dunphy of Hull; Anne (Brian) Corbett of Wakefield; Mary (John) Adams of Hull; Michael (Janice) Dunphy of Hull; Thomas (Mary) Dunphy of New Jersey. Amazing Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Edward was married to his caring wife, Kathy, for 48 memorable years. Edward and Kathy were best friends and enjoyed doing everything in life together. They have resided in Westwood for the past 43 years where they raised their 3 children; Mark, Shawn, and Katie. Edward loved his home in Westwood and willingly shared it with loved ones. Through his example he taught his children the importance of family. He was the proud Pop to 8 grandchildren. Pop would always have a candy at the ready to sneak into the hands of his beloved grandkids.
Edward attended Boston State College and served in The U.S. Marines Reserve as a Sergeant. At the age of 22 and for the next 35 years, he worked and connected with students as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Winthrop High School. Edward had a great passion for wood working and built many impressive pieces for his home and family. That passion was only surpassed by his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Edward was a devoted family man. He was well known for organizing many family events throughout the years. He coached his children's little league teams in baseball and basketball and was very involved in all of their school projects. One of his greatest attributes was his sense of humor. When you saw him you had a good laugh, heard a great story, and occasionally got a twenty dollar bill in the palm of your hand. His ability to draw laughter was exceeded only by the warmth and comfort you felt in his presence. Edward will be forever missed by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday afternoon June 25th at 1pm in St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood. Interment to follow in New Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made in Edward's memory to JDRF, https://www.jdrf.org/donate/ or PO BOX 37920, Boone IA 50037-0920.
