McCracken, Edie (Paul), of Westwood, died suddenly on March 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Bill McCracken. Loving mother of Janet M. Landry and her husband Michael, the late David Paul McCracken and proud grandmother of Ryan M. and John C. "Jake" Landry all of Westwood. Sister of the late Shirley Graham and the late Fred Paul. Aunt of Linda Marshall of West Boylston and the late Bob Graham of Manchester, NH.
Edie grew up on Glendolden Farm in West Brookfield and graduated from David Prouty High School in 1952. She was accepted into the Delta Airlines Stewardess Training Academy in Texas and with her pilots license was set to go until she met Bill, also a licensed pilot and married in 1953. They moved to Westwood in 1958. Bill took a job teaching at Wentworth Institute of Technology while Edie went to work for the Assessor's office for the town of Westwood for 13 years. Edie then went on to become the Town Clerk for 37 years, retiring in 2007. Every paycheck Edie ever received was signed by the Town of Westwood. Edie was also a justice of the peace, a special police officer and held a class A firearms license (LTC) re-qualifying at age 80. She took great pride in her service to the Town of Westwood but her greatest joy was being the best ever Grammy to Ryan and Jake her adored grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., WESTWOOD on Friday March 24th from 4-8pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday morning March 25th at 10am in The First Baptist Church of Westwood, 808 High St., Westwood.
