E. Jayne Shanning (McGrath), 84, of Walpole, MA, formerly of Westwood, MA, passed away December 15, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Edward E. Shanning. Loving mother of Denise Shanning (Renee Marchand), Dale Shanning Hartman (Brian Hartman), and Stacey Shanning Sherwood (Chris Sherwood).
Adored grandmother of Jarad Hartman (Mary Shaffer), Conner Hartman (Bella Hartman), Noah Shanning, Jamie Shanning, Ryan Sherwood, and Jay Sherwood.
Sister of the late Robert E. McGrath. Sister-in-law of Nancie Shanning Miller and Deidre McGrath. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jayne was an incredibly giving woman with a generous heart. Her dedication to her faith, eucharistic ministry, volunteering, and giving to those in need were reflections of her efforts to be a loving, Christian woman. She was always present for family and friends in whatever they needed, and quick to make a fun plan for a luncheon or outing. She enjoyed taking day trips with friends and family in her later years and was a self-proclaimed foodie.
Growing up in Roslindale, MA and attending St. Thomas Aquinas High School, she later enjoyed a profession in business, focusing on accounting. She was an incredibly devoted worker in any task or job she undertook. Her energy knew no bounds and she was the first to laugh at herself in a playful way.
As the matriarch of the family, she will be missed by all dearly. Her family and friends were blessed to have such an amazing and strong woman as an example of how to approach challenging times with a light heart and remember to share humor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours at the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Thursday January 5th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning January 6th at 10am at St. Timothy's Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood. Interment private.
