Dr. Esmail Fallah-Sohy, 81, of Westwood, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 31, 2025. He was born on February 22, 1944, in Tehran, Iran, to Mohammad and Morvarid Fallah-Sohy.
Dr. Fallah-Sohy is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and physician, whose life bridged two cultures and whose compassion touched countless patients. From an early age he dreamed of becoming a physician. At age 12, he wrote a school essay declaring he wanted to be a doctor, a calling that guided his entire life.
He graduated from the University of Tehran Medical School in 1970 and pursued advanced training in internal medicine, hematology-oncology, and addiction medicine in the United States and Canada. After settling in the Greater Boston area, he established a renowned private practice in Norwood, Massachusetts, in addition to serving as the Medical Director of Epoch of Sharon and the Ellis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. At the time of his retirement, he had dedicated over 50 years to caring for patients, many of whom considered him their lifelong doctor and a trusted friend.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Farzaneh; his daughter, Nilofar, and her husband, Arya Sharifzadeh; his son, Alex, and his fiancée, Caroline MacDonald; his brothers, Mostafa and Ahmad; his sisters, Shari and Zohreh; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Amir, whose memory he carried always.
Dr. Fallah-Sohy will be remembered for his love of his family, his endless devotion to his patients, his beautiful garden, and his humility, wisdom, sense of humor, and resilience.
A Visitation will be held at the Holden-Dunn-Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street, Westwood, MA, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10 am - 12 pm. Following the Visitation, interment will be private.
