Donald A. Cole

COLE, Donald A. 89, of Westwood MA and Wakefield New Hampshire, formerly of Malden MA passed away peacefully in Westwood on July 7, 2013. Born in Malden, MA on November 12, 1923, son of Donald & Mary Cole, he served honorably in the Navy during WWII and graduated, thanks to the GI bill, from Suffolk Law School and from Northeastern University with a master's degree in law. He went on to hold managerial positions at the Maryland Casualty Company, Shelby Mutual Insurance Company and Allied Adjustment Service before establishing Colonial Adjustment. He also practiced law in his private office for over 50 years. Donald was very active in the Westwood community and served on the Conservation Commission, Cemetery Commission and Personnel Board. He was a member of the First Parish Church for over 50 years as well as the Westwood Rotary and the Celestial Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Lodge. The greatest joy in Donald's life was his family, friends and summer home on Lovell Lake in Sanbornville, New Hampshire. He was a man with a quiet sense of humor and always helped his friends and family. He was predeceased by Velma, his wife of 59 years. He is survived by his two children, Bruce of Westwood MA and Susan and her spouse John England of Andover, CT; grandchildren William England and his spouse Sasha of Philadelphia, PA and Katherine Marino and her spouse Justin of Marlborough, CT; great granddaughter Giuliana Marino; his sister June Rogers of Topsfield, MA; and his brother Robert Cole of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street (off Route 109) Westwood on Friday July 12th from 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday morning July 13th at 10am in the First Parish of Westwood United Church, 340 Clapboardtree St., Westwood. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wakefield Food Pantry, 1500 Wakefield Road, Wakefield, NH 03872 or the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
