Cynthia Jane (Wilson) Baler passed away on December 23, 2024. Born on May 13, 1939, in Boston to Esther (Porter) and Abraham Wilson, Cynthia grew up in Mattapan and later West Roxbury alongside her twin brothers, Gerald and Theodore.
Cynthia is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Philip, her son Jeffrey and his wife Maria, her son Michael and his wife Gabrielle Cayo, her daughter Amanda and her husband Mark McCaul, and her grandchildren, Samuel Baler, David Baler, and step-grandson Jacob Rocha. Her family was her greatest joy and legacy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Cynthia attended Girls’ Latin School in Boston and Simmons College. Cynthia and Philip raised their family in Quincy before retiring to Mashpee and later Westwood. Cynthia delighted in helping her children and grandchildren with their homework, fostering a love of learning in her family. In her youth, she was a gifted concert pianist and passed her musical talent on to her grandsons.
Cynthia was an editor for the New England Stock Brokers Journal and TV Facts Magazine before running a successful retail bead business.
Cynthia volunteered at the Cape Cod Hospital Thrift Shop, the Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center, and the Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary where, among other things, she helped rescue stranded turtles and drove them to Boston for rehabilitation.
Cynthia will be remembered for her warmth and unwavering love of her family. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Donations may be made in her memory to the Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
