HENES, Christopher C., of Westwood, MA, passed peacefully at home on November 12, 2022 after a five-year battle with Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia, with his devoted wife of 47 years and his children by his side. He was a few weeks shy of his 72nd birthday.
Beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Earls) Henes. Loving father of Charlie, Amy, and Brian Henes. Father-in-law to Amy's husband Stephen King and proud Papou of Ophelia King-Henes. Cherished brother of Alexis Henes and her husband José Ayalamacedo. Son of the late Charles and Angelina Henes. Chris also leaves behind his dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cherished nieces and nephews, close cousins, and many wonderful friends.
Chris was a proud graduate of Newton South High School (Class of 1968), Boston University (Class of 1973), and Suffolk Law School (Class of 1980). His lifelong passions included sports, the military, and politics. He was the manager of the BU men's ice hockey team during his college years (Division I NCAA Champions in '71 and '72) and an avid supporter of the Terriers up to his final days. He was a lawyer in private practice in Dedham for many years. He proudly served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, including as a Judge Advocate General's Corps officer, and retired as a Colonel after over 40 years of honorable service.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Thursday, November 17 from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday morning November 18 at 10 am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston. Interment with Military Honors at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris' memory to Home Base, an organization that serves Veterans and their families (https://homebase.org/).
