Cheryl Ann (Sullivan) Flaman, of Norwell, MA (formerly of Walpole, MA) passed away on July 17, 2024, just four days shy of her 74th birthday. Since her first cancer diagnosis in 1996, Cheryl faced her medical challenges with a positive attitude, courage, and grace, determined to enjoy her life with family and friends, and travel as much as possible.
Beloved wife of the late Terrance E. Flaman, devoted mother of Kelly D. (Flaman) Roberts married to Tyler of Norwell, MA, and Todd E. Flaman married to Sarah (Bornemann) of Brookhaven, GA. Loving grandmother of Molly and Annie Flaman and Will Roberts.
Cheryl also leaves behind brother Richard D. Sullivan and his significant other, Lillian Briguglio, of Peabody, MA, and James A. Sullivan and his wife, Joanne (Teague), of Canton, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Cheryl was born in Boston, MA to the late James J. and Mary (Day) Sullivan. She spent her formative years in Canton, MA with her parents and brothers. Cheryl was a proud alumna of Ursuline Academy and Simmons College. She married the love of her life (Terry) in 1969 and they went on to raise their family in Walpole, MA, until Terry’s untimely death from cancer in 1984.
Cheryl spent her career in commercial real estate, first on the development side, spending almost 30 years with Spaulding & Slye and Spaulding Investment Company, and then later on the legal side, at law firms Hill & Barlow and Goulston & Storrs. She retired in 2020 with the plan to continue traveling the world and spending time with her children and grandchildren. While her terminal diagnosis shortly after retirement could have deterred Cheryl’s plans, she chose to live life to the fullest, treating every day as a gift.
A lover of nature and animals (almost as much as ice cream!), Cheryl was known for taking in strays of all kinds – even people when they had nowhere else to go on any given holiday. Her infectious smile and ability to make anyone feel like they were the most important person in the room afforded her friendships that lasted decades. Cheryl leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street, Westwood, on Wednesday, July 31, from 4:00-7:00pm. Interment private.
