Catherine M. Barry "Kay" (Bates), 98, of Norwood, MA, formerly of Hyde Park, MA, entered into eternal peace on March 10, 2021.
The daughter of the late James L. and Alice P. (Napier) Bates. Beloved wife and soul mate to the late John E. "Jack" Barry, Jr. Loving mother of Anne M. Barry of Norwood, MA, and the late Brian P. of Brighton, MA and Stephen M. Barry of Norwood, MA. Mother in law of Rhonda A. (Willey) Barry of Wilmington, NC. Cherished grandmother of Catherine Barry of Stoughton, John S. Barry of Norwood, and Laura E. Barry of Wilmington, NC. Predeceased by her siblings Alice P. "Pat" Bates, Margaret R. Nolan and her late husband Robert, and James L. Bates and his late wife Jean.
Kay was a gentle and kind woman of ardent faith, immeasurable strength and honesty. She devoted her life to her family and lasting friendships. She attended every school sponsored event for her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish of Hyde Park for numerous years before the Parish was closed. Both she and Jack were avid sports fans, particularly of the Boston Red Sox. Kay attended daily Mass with her great friends and coffee and conversations always followed. Their bond was inseparable.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock Street, Westwood on Thursday, March 18th from 4-7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, March 19th at 10AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood, MA. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kay's memory to:
