Carmella “Millie” Hunt passed away peacefully on December 14th at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts at the age of 103. She was the beloved wife of the late George A. Hunt and the devoted daughter of the late Cristina & Carmelo Garufo. She was the sister of the late Josie, Tina, Mary, and brother Ben. Loving mother of Bob Hunt and his wife Carol, daughter Lucette (Hunt) Nicoll and her husband John, and George Hunt and his wife Susan.
She was the adoring grandmother of Lauren (Nicoll) Fazio & her husband Gavin, Michael Nicoll & his wife Danielle, Kevin Hunt and Michelle Hunt. To her great-grandchildren, she was GG to Vincent Nicoll, Gavin, Caden, Grady, and Owen Fazio.
A resident of Westwood for 64 years, Carmella retired from the Westwood Public Schools where she worked for the superintendent handling accounts payable in the administration office for 18 years, before retiring at age 70. After retirement, Millie traveled the world with her best friend Marian and shared her many stories with her family.
Early in 2023, Carmella was honored by the Town of Westwood for being the oldest resident in town and was awarded the Boston Post Cane. She was famous for her special spaghetti gravy and enjoyed emailing with family and friends and spoiling her great-grandchildren. Carmella is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Wednesday December 20th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood on Thursday morning December 21st at 10am. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
