McDonald, Bruce R.,(61) of Westwood left this life on June 25, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family and friends at the Stanley R, Tippett Hospice Home in Needham. Beloved husband of Marian (Garvey) McDonald for 32 years. Loving father of Kathleen Morgan and her husband John of Medway, and Brian McDonald of Westwood. Devoted grandfather of Kyle and Rose Morgan. Also survived by his sister Helen McDonald, and her partner Mindy Kingston of Sherborn. In addition, Bruce also leaves a large number of family and friends from every walk of life.
Bruce lived in Westwood his entire life and was a devoted member of the Westwood community. After graduating from Westwood High School in 1974 he went on to earn a degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University. He was a proud member of the Westwood Police Force for 30 years; 23 of which were served as a sergeant. Bruce had a strong passion for all Boston sports teams. If he wasn't watching the Patriots on TV or catching a ballgame at Fenway Park, he could be found coaching youth sports in the community or being first in the stands at his children's games.
Visiting hours will be held in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Thursday, June 28th from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Susanna Church, 262 Needham Street, Dedham, on Friday, June 29th at 9:00am. Interment private.
