Brenda Theresa (Hanrahan) McClure, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on November 27, 1959, Brenda was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Emily (Heavey) Hanrahan. She grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts. Brenda shared 32 years of marriage with her beloved husband. Together they built a life centered on family and raised their two daughters in Westwood, Massachusetts.
Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Scott McClure; her loving daughters, Rachael Ryan and her husband Brendan Ryan of Norwood, and Stephanie Adams and her husband Dean Adams of Dorchester; her cherished grandson, Blake Ryan; her sisters, Sheila Higgins and her husband Mike Higgins, and Sharon Cvinar and her husband David Cvinar; her many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, former students, and colleagues.
Brenda was known for her joyful spirit, outgoing personality, and genuine interest in others. She could spend hours on the phone catching up with family and friends and could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Her warmth, kindness, and gift for connecting with people left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her Brenda dedicated much of her career to teaching children with autism and supporting individuals with special needs after earning her bachelor's degree in Education. She had a natural gift for helping others and an endless reserve of patience and compassion.
Despite the challenges of ALS, Brenda fought incredibly hard to be present for the moments that mattered most. She was able to watch both of her daughters walk down the aisle, milestones she treasured deeply. She also fought to meet her grandson and was blessed to spend nearly two precious months with him.
