Dr. Barton P. Smith, M.D., of Fox Hill Village, Westwood, died June 20th, 2009.
Beloved husband of Jane (Campbell) Smith for 61 years. Loving father of Heather S. Collins of Hingham, Holly L. Smith of Dedham, Martha B. McManamy of Newburyport, Bruce E. Smith of Norwood and Christopher H. Smith M.D. of Seattle, Washington. Also survived by 9 cherished grandchildren, two sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law.
Dr. Smith had a long and satisfying career as a physician at Dedham Medical Associates.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Thursday June 25th from 5-8 p.m. His life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service in the First Parish of Westwood United Church, 340 Clapboardtree St., Westwood, MA 02090 on Saturday morning June 27th at 11am.
Donations may be made in Dr. Smith’s memory to the South Norfolk County Arc (SNCARC), 789 Clapboardtree St. Westwood, MA 02090 or to the First Parish of Westwood United Church at the address indicated above.
Dr. Smith was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University, obtained his M.D. degree from Columbia University, was a member of numerous singing groups and was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran WWII.
