Anthony R. Murphy

Anthony Murphy of Westwood, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on October 10, 2026. He was 83 years old.

Tony was the beloved husband of Ann Murphy, with whom he shared 56 cherished years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Ann; his son Ted (Liz); daughter Katie; son Bill; his grandchildren Grace and Jack.

Tony was born in Philadelphia, the youngest of four children. Growing up in a military family, he spent his childhood seeing the world, living in Heidelberg, Germany, Hawaii, Virginia and Maine. A proud alumnus of Holy Cross, Tony carried its values forward by joining the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and serving in Jamaica. He later earned his MBA from Boston College and built a successful career as a finance executive, remaining a loyal and enthusiastic supporter of both alma maters throughout his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Sunday Oct. 18th from 4-6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday Oct. 19th in St. Denis Church, 157 Washington St., Westwood. Interment will be private.
