September 14, 1924 — March 3, 2025

Westwood, MA

Alice D. Smith of Westwood, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at the age of 100. She is survived by her nine children, Dana Smith, Bonnie Ball, Alice Houghton, Michael Smith, Christopher Smith, Diane Kirsh, Jean Ramanouskas, Joseph Smith, and Alfred Smith, as well as her sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Born September 14th, 1924 in Everett MA, she moved to Belmont MA during her high school years where she remained until her marriage. Throughout her early life, Alice was always a hardworking and dedicated woman, caring for all around her. After Alice attended Radcliffe college for home economics, she met Dana A. Smith while working at Pittsburgh Paint Shop, and they began their family together. While taking care of and raising their nine children during the day, Alice worked nights as a nurse’s aide at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Her work as a nurse’s aide lasted for over twenty years.

Alice’s life is best represented by how many lives she touched. In addition to her career of assisting others in the medical industry, she lived with her in-laws George and Mary Smith during the early days of her marriage, taking care of them until they passed. Decades later, she also cared for her mother Dorothy Williams in her final years. In addition to raising her nine children, she also helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life was one of duty and responsibility where she gave herself to caring for others. She was incredibly selfless and is missed greatly.
