Alice Mae Powell

d. May 26, 2018

Powell, Alice Mae (Hand), 82, of Westwood, passed peacefully, May 26, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Paul A. Powell, Sr. Loving mother of Paul A., Jr. and his wife Lisa of Westwood, David E. and his wife Nancy of Bedford, Robert W. and his wife Carolyn of Westwood and Andrew H. and his wife Colette of Isle of Palms, SC. Adored Nana to Meaghan, Kelsey, Katie, Julia, Nicole, Alexandra, Robert, Jr., Caroline, Jake, Ryder, Michael and Dustin, and great granddaughter Cadence. Sister of Rose Marie Gaffey of Arlington and Leo Hand of Hinesburg, VT. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Forever free-spirited, Alice Mae could not be contained to one locale, spreading her depthless love and colorful personality to neighbors in Scituate, MA, Greenfield, NH and St. Thomas, USVI. She was an indulgent matriarch not only to her large family, but to the students at The Roxbury Latin School during her 18-year tenure in the development office. She spent her later working years at C.H. Powell Company amongst friends and family. Her energy and compassion surely resulted in "letting the dogs out". Funeral service and interment are private. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life reception to be held on June 23, at Del Frisco's Grill, Westwood, from 11am to 3pm. Donations can be made in her name to The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
