Albert Edward Block

Albert Edward Block of Walpole, MA and formerly of Dover, MA passed away on June 6, 2022 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Carolyn Hardy Block and loving father of Debi DiMatteo (Andrew), Albert E. Block III (Susan), Christopher M. Block and Stephanie Jones (Christopher). He was a dedicated grandfather of seven, Kelly & Conor DiMatteo; Matthew, Shannon & Maggie Block; Timothy & Brendan Jones. He gave his time generously to his family and was involved as a tennis instructor, baseball coach and was always up for father son/daughter activities.
Al was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross where he played for the tennis team. He also graduated from Harvard Business School and was a retired Captain of the United States Navy Reserve.
Along with his duty in the Navy Reserve, Al also worked for Sonesta Hotels and then The Phoenix Home Life Insurance Company.
He was an avid tennis player and played at Longwood Cricket Club in Brookline and served many years on the Board of Governors and as President of the Club.
His other passionate pursuits included his vegetable garden and his lifelong dedication to the College of the Holy Cross where he was an active alumnus and served as President of the Holy Cross Alumni Association as well as the Holy Cross Club of Boston.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Most Precious Blood Church, 30 Centre St. Dover, MA on June 17, 2022 at 11 am followed by interment at Highland Cemetery, Dover MA.
